Agreement with new radio stations
The heads of seven regional Polish Radio stations arrived in Rome: Mirosław Kasprzak from Radio Lublin, Tomasz Duda from Radio Wrocław, Jacek Grudzień from Radio Łódź, Jacek Kaczor from Radio Opole, Krzysztof Lodziński from Radio Gdańsk, Piotr Michalak from Radio Poznań, and Marcin Pulit from Radio Kraków. Agreements will also be signed by correspondence with Polish Radio Rzeszów, Białystok, and Kielce.
On this occasion, the Polish guests participated in the general audience of Leo XIV, and afterward met the Pope, together with the programmatic director of Vatican Media, Andrea Tornielli, and his deputy, who is also the head of Vatican Radio-Vatican News, Massimiliano Menichetti, as well as Fr. Paweł Rytel-Andrianik, head of the Polish section of Vatican Radio-Vatican News and L’Osservatore Romano.

The guests presented the Pope with a symbolic boat set on amber, which has been collected for centuries on the shores of the Baltic Sea. The gift was accompanied by a dedication written in Latin: “With the highest reverence and in spiritual unity, we offer Your Holiness this gift as a sign of gratitude and unity from the communities that daily form the Regional Stations of Polish Radio.”
A message of hope when the world suffers from wars
Subsequently, at the Dicastery for Communication, Fr. Lucio Adrian Ruiz, Secretary of the Dicastery for Communication, signed the relevant agreements on behalf of Prefect Paolo Ruffini.
“This is an important moment because all of us, as communication workers, bear an enormous responsibility towards the world – to convey truth and sow hope in hearts,” said Fr. Ruiz.
Millions of new listeners
Mirosław Kasprzak, head of Polish Radio Lublin, said that for regional radio stations in Poland, cooperation with Vatican Media means fulfilling the mission of public media.
He added that the content of regional radio stations in Poland reaches almost 60 million Polish language users – about 37 million in the country and almost 20 million abroad.
“We hope that our example will encourage other language sections of Vatican Radio-Vatican News to sign such agreements,” added the head of Polish Radio Lublin.
A year ago, five Polish editorial offices signed a similar agreement. This year, the number of signed agreements has doubled, which indicates positive effects of the cooperation.
