Bishop Robert Brennan, Bishop of the Diocese of Brooklyn, which includes Queens, led a momentous occasion for the 8th grade Class of 2024. This special Mass, held at the Co-Cathedral of St. Joseph in Prospect Heights, Brooklyn, was a profound celebration of their journey.

About 1,500 students from 60 Catholic schools and academies filled the pews at the Co-Cathedral and heard Bishop Brennan sing their praises.

“I wanted to be able to tell you how much I believe in you, how happy I am for you, and how much I wish you the best as you now continue in high school. And I wanted to tell you very simply how much I love you, really and truly, from the heart. And that's not just me alone. You see a lot of us up here today, a lot of your pastors, and a lot of the people in our schools and youth office, a lot of people from your schools. We love you. I hope you always know and remember that.” said Bishop Brennan.

Superintendent of Schools Deacon Kevin McCormack told the students they must make the most of their Catholic education.

“We need you now, more than ever, as you proceed to go onto your high schools; many of you go into our Catholic high schools, and we need you to take the imagination that you've been given over these last many times, eleven years. We need you to take that into a world desperate for your home, your faith, and your love,” said Superintendent McCormack.

Commencement ceremonies will occur in June for the Class of 2024 at their respective schools and academies.
