Where would Romelu Lukaku fit in come Next Season?

Michael Skok, NY     28 marca, 2016

For Everton’s greatly inconsistent season, it is the Belgian forward that has been the brightest part of Roberto Martinez’s setup. Having scored 25 goals this season, including two that took out Chelsea in the FA cup, the striker has become of the Premier League’s hottest prospects. Of course, come summer, it would be highly surprising if one of the higher profile clubs in Europe not to attempt to acquire his services.

Manchester United
The Red Devils has struggled to find a reliable forward this season. Although Anthony Martial’s signing may prove to be a boon, the young French forward is mostly potential at this point. Wayne Rooney has had his sparks this season, but overall he is far and most likely permanently away from the form that captured the imaginations of millions of United fans. The past is a good indicator of what a player’s form would be like in the future, and the England captain simply is not good enough to be the main forward for the Red Devils if they were to compete again at highest level both domestically and in Europe. Lukaku may be the answer to their striking woes. He has already proven himself in the EPL, and has the build to obviously succeed in the long term. His potential partnership with Martial can become an incredible one, as both have their own distinct styles (Martial quick and technical, Lukaku strong and well rounded) that can mesh well. Whether or not Everton would be willing to sell to a Premier League club remains to be seen.

PSG
For all parties involved, PSG may seem to be the most logical choice for a move to materialize if it were to. Everton would not only sell abroad, but PSG have the cash to pay whatever the Premier League club would quote as a price. Everton can use that money to reinvest heavily in the squad. For PSG, they will most likely say au revior to Ibrahimovic; and will only have the services of Edinson Cavani to be their main forward. Cavani isn’t enough for a club of PSG’s ambitions to carry them through the season, especially for the Champions League Campaign. Lukaku is a young forward, and has plenty of room to develop. With PSG’s ability to create chances, the Belgian should have lots of success in the French league. This would be a long term deal and the former Chelsea man can become an incredible player for PSG for years to come.

Bayern Munich
The Bavarian giants could certainly do with another quality forward. Even though Lewandowski would clearly be the preferred forward even if Lukaku comes in, the Belgian can develop and learn from the best. He offers something different to the Polish forward too, as he has the pace and strength to break effectively in a counter attacking setup. It would suit Bayern’s ability to have plenty of various options in a potential lineup. Everton would be willing to sell (if they had to), although the price can certainly be an issue for a side that only spends big if they have to. They have enough attacking options as is, and in a bidding war with PSG for example, the latter would surely come out on top.
