EPL Players that look to Impress Next Season: Jack Wilshere, Harry Kane, Angel Di Maria

by Michael Skok     20 czerwca, 2015

The English Premier League has its share of magnificent players – the likes of Eden Hazard, Sergio Aguero, and Alexis Sanchez have all impressed in the most recent instance of the league. Next season we expect these names to continue to dominate to headlines, but there will be plenty of others that look to join them there.

Jack Wilshere
These days, it is quite easy to be a forgotten man in a midfield as stacked as Arsenal’s. With the likes of Aaron Ramsey and Santi Cazorla maintaining their positions in the first XI, as well as the additions of Francis Coquelin and Alex-Oxlade Chamberlain playing in the midfield, Wilshere has seen a lack of match time there. Of course, much of it was due to his injury woes during much of the season, however it would be difficult for the England national to slot straight back in, considering how dominant Arsenal’s midfield were at the end of the season. However, his recent man of the match performance for England against Slovenia, in which they won 3-2, as well as fantastic displays against Manchester City in November in last year, has shown that Wilshere has all the tools necessary to shine come beginning of next season. The fact that he is only 23 means that time is on his side to fulfill the potential that many in the sport see in him.

Harry Kane
The footballing world has seen what Harry Kane is capable of doing in a Spurs shirt last season. However, there is the age-old adage that still questions whether or not English striker can repeat a similar performance to that of 2014/2015. Scoring 31 goals in his first meaningful season, Harry Kane will have the added pressure of continuing to deliver for his club. And it is not only in Spurs’ interest, but also in his own, to show that he is able to be consistent at the top level. There are myriads of names that have been associated with “one season wonders,” especially within this game. If he is truly to progress to the upper echelons of football, he will look to continue those match-winning performances that have put him on the radar.

Angel Di Maria
There has certainly been plenty of expectations levied upon the Argentine midfielder, as what would be customary considering he broke the English transfer record, as well as transferring from one prestigious club in Real Madrid to another in Manchester United. He has, for all intents and purposes, been mediocre for the Red Devils this past season. Although he has had a respectable return in three goals and ten assists, his performances as a whole has left much to be desired. He has shown glimpses of his brilliance, like his performances against Burnley; but plenty of his game can be summed up in frustration, losing the ball easily, simulating, and going down cheaply have been a big part of his performances unfortunately. However, all of that can come down to simply transitioning from one very different league to another. He certainly has the talent, taking in account all of his contributions to Real Madrid, to succeed at a club in Manchester United. And having confirmed he will continue to ply his trade with the Red Devils next season, the fans of the club will hope he truly explodes on the scene.
