The White Sox lost 3-1 in the third game of their series in Detroit.  After splitting the first two games, the Sunday contest had another 40,000 crowd at Comerica Park.  The Sox could only manage five hits.

Prince Fielder hit a solo shot for Detroit in the third inning off of Dylan Axelrod for the winning run.

Dunn got his ninth dinger of the year in the first inning for Chicago.  He has been on tear for the Sox hitting a homer in four of his last five games.  In the bottom of the first, Austin Jackson replied with a solo shot for Detroit.

Right-hander Rick Porcello got his third win for the Tigers.  Ace Detroit stopper Jose Valverde had another adventure as the White Sox put two runners on in the ninth, but were unable to push any runs across.  After the game Porcello said, “I have a lot of confidence in Papa Grande.”  Porcello pitched 6 1/3 innings of four-hit, one-run ball while walking two and striking out five.  “That’s how I was feeling.”

The Tigers stranded 12 men on base.  Andy Dirks added a solo shot for good measure in the eighth.

Before the Friday evening game, Detroit outfielder Delmon Young speaking in the dugout, apologized to his teammates and to the public and has been reinstated.  He had been serving a seven-day suspension for being arrested in a late-night incident outside a New York hotel.

It is off to Cleveland for the White Sox next and Detroit travels to Seattle.  Detroit will visit U.S. Cellular Field in Chicago for a two game series May 14 and 15.
