Polish-American Journalist Wojciech T. Mleczko Has Passed Away on May 5th, 2024

Wojciech T. Mleczko (Wojtek), aged 70, of South Orange, New Jersey, passed away on May 5th, 2024, in West Orange.

Wojtek was born in Krakow, Poland, and immigrated to New York City as a political refugee in 1986. He later moved to New Jersey, where he resided for over 32 years.

Wojtek was an alumnus of the Jagiellonian University in Krakow. Upon settling in the United States, Wojtek had a distinguished career as a Polish-American journalist, contributing to various publications, including the daily Nowy Dziennik. He was an active leader in the regional Polish-American community, serving on the Board of Directors of the Polish & Slavic Federal Credit Union. Wojtek concluded his career as Program Director of the John Paul II Senior Center in New York City.

He is survived by his loving wife, Magdalena; his son, Jakub; daughter, Joanna; six grandchildren: Roman, Gabriel, Hanna, Natalie, Robert, and Serena; daughter-in-law, Kristen; son-in-law, Nick; brother, Jerzy; sister-in-law, Jolanta; and former wife, Elzbieta.

The community is invited to pay their respects at the Preston Funeral Home in South Orange, NJ on Monday, June 3rd 2024 from 12:30-2:00pm. The visitation will be followed by a prayer service and reception, a fitting tribute to Wojtek's life and contributions. The interment will be a private ceremony.
