Dr. Thomas Chadzutko, Superintendent of Schools for the Diocese of Brooklyn, and Monsignor David Cassato, Vicar for Schools for the Diocese of Brooklyn, joined on Nov 4, 2021 the students of St. Athanasius Catholic Academy at a special prayer service, honoring Bishop Nicholas DiMarzio for his commitment to Catholic education in Brooklyn and Queens over the last 18 years.

Prior to the prayer service, Bishop DiMarzio greeted students and families in the schoolyard before the start of school. The students, on behalf of all 70 Catholic schools and academies of the Diocese in Brooklyn and Queens, were led by Principal Diane Competello in presenting Bishop DiMarzio with gifts of appreciation.

Dr. Thomas Chadzutko announced the establishment of the Bishop DiMarzio Angel Award Scholarship to be presented in his honor to two students each year, in recognition of his long-standing support of the students and schools throughout the Diocese. The students concluded the prayer service by singing the song “Let It Shine.”
