USA: 2018 Kosciuszko Foundation Marcella Sembrich International Voice Competition in NY

Applications are due September 1!

The Kosciuszko Foundation Marcella Sembrich International Voice Competition was established in 1968 to encourage young singers to study the repertoire of Polish composers and to honor Polish soprano Marcella Sembrich Kochanska, one of the greatest artists of the late 19th and early 20th centuries, who made her Metropolitan Opera debut in 1883. After an enormously successful career, the popular singer founded the vocal programs at both the Juilliard School and the Curtis Institute. Previous winners of the competition include Barbara Hendricks.

GENERAL INFORMATION & SCHEDULE

The Competition is open to singers of all voice types and of all nationalities who are 20-32 years old.

The Competition consists of 4 rounds:

1. PRE-SELECTION ROUND - Based on submitted a video recording. DEADLINE TO SUBMIT APPLICATION: September 1, 2018. Please note that late applications will NOT be accepted. Admission to Semifinals will be notified by September 15, 2018.

2. FIRST ROUND - Saturday, November 3, 2018

3. SEMIFINALS - Sunday, November 4, 2018, 11:00 AM - 2:00 PM

4. FINALS - Sunday, November 4, 2018, 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM at Ida K. Lang Recital Hall at Hunter College in New York City. Finals open are to the public.

First Prize: $8,000
Second Prize: $5,000
Third Prize: $3,000

Special Award: $1,000 For the best interpretation of a song/aria by Ignacy Jan Paderewski

Recitals at the Sembrich Museum in Bolton Landing, NY and at the Kosciuszko Foundation, NY.
