Wyckoff Heights Medical Center Emergency Department Ribbon Cutting Ceremony

07 lipca, 2010

Wyckoff Heights Medical Center is a 350-bed, not-for-profit, acute care teaching hospital, located in Brooklyn, on the Kings/Queens Border and established in 1889.

Wyckoff has created a new state of the art Emergency Department that encompasses a redesigned triage and registration area, more spacious nursing stations, and additional treatment space to accommodate 100,000 annual visits.  A new ambulance entrance has been created to improve patient flow and Fire Department-EMS turn-around times.  An asthma treatment area, counseling/grieving room, and a pediatric trauma room were also added to ensure patient privacy, confidentiality and improve patient comfort and satisfaction.

Wyckoff Hospital has been designated as an Emergency Heart Station, a 911 Ambulance Destination Facility, a Stroke Center, and a Tier 3 Burn Center. Over the next few months, Wyckoff will become a designated Sexual Assault Forensic Examiner Center and a Therapeutic Hypothermia Center. Wyckoff received its New York State DOH Ambulance Service Certificate and has expanded services to provide both Basic Life Support and Advanced Life Support to the Brooklyn/Queens communities.

Wyckoff Community Training Center (CTC) offers courses in First Aid, CPR, and Basic Life Support (BLS) for the Healthcare Provider, Advanced Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advance Life Support (PALS), Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP), Prehospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS), and Defensive Driving.  In addition CTC offers EMT original and refresher courses, as well as Paramedic refresher courses through the Department of Health.

A Ribbon Cutting Ceremony is planned for July 8, 2010 at Wyckoff Heights Medical Center to give community leaders an opportunity to see first hand the changes in the Emergency Department.  Some of the specific changes include:
