Summer School of the Polish Language and Culture 2012

During the period: 9-29 July 2012. This three-week course is designed both for those who intend to start learning Polish and for those who wish to improve their Polish language skills. Classes are held in small homogenous groups based on language competence. Additional tutorials are available to students who need individual help.

The course comprises the following modules:

1. Curricula: Polish language classes (45 hrs) at four levels: for beginners, intermediate, upper-intermediate and advanced students. Lectures on Polish history and culture (offered in both Polish and English) (30 hrs).
We provide a wide range of subjects:
°    The Polish language
°    History of Poland
°    History of Polish literature
°    History of Polish culture
°    Polish songs and dances – practical session
°    Cultural history of Polish Jews
°    Political, social and economic changes in Poland after 1989
Students will also have an opportunity to gain practical experience. We provide presentations of Polish films, theatre performances, concerts of classical and folk music.
All our teachers are university graduates qualified in teaching Polish as the second language and have years of teaching experience. All the classes and lectures are held in the building of our School.

2. The tourist programme:

A sightseeing tour of Lublin’s Old Town and Castle, the Holy Trinity Chapel, the Martyrdom Museum of Majdanek (the former Nazi concentration camp), the Museum of Lublin Village and the Botanical Garden. A trip to Cracow (3 days) including a visit to Wawel Royal Castle, Wieliczka, the Old Town and many churches. Visits to Kozlowka (the Zamoyski Family Museum and a unique collection of social-realistic art), Kazimierz, the town of painters situated by the Vistula River and Naleczow, the spa resort.
 
The participants of the Summer School will be given certificates of attendance and transcripts of studies. Students may also get credit points within the ECTS (European Credit Transfer System).

We provide accommodation in a dormitory, in double rooms. Meals are served three times a day in a student’s cafeteria. Special dietary arrangements are possible for vegetarians. Dormitory and cafeteria are within an easy walking distance of the School and we are only 10 minutes from the Lublin town centre.
 
The fees for the course total EUR 800. The fees do not include airfare to Lublin and a health insurance policy.
Only classes and lectures – PLN 1000.
