Dortmund ended there 2013/2014 Bundesliga season on a relative high. Securing second place, they now look to win the DFB Pokal against the reigning champions Bayern Munich. The biggest storyline heading into this game will be the fate of Bayern’s future striker, Robert Lewandowski. Ending his season on a personal high (as Bundesliga’s top scorer with 22 goals), he will now look to end his future employers’ domestic double hopes.
From Bayer’s prospective, they will be hoping that Dortmund’s star man will have a rather meek last game for Klopp’s men. However, unlike Mario Gotze, who rather mishandled his transfer to the Bavarian super club, Lewandowski will leave with a hero’s goodbye from Borussia Park. No matter who wins the super cup, Dortmund can say that Lewandowski gave the club everything he could, despite the imminent transfer, and Munich can say that they are getting one of the most elite strikers in Europe next season. Lewandowski has acted in the utmost professional manner, and no doubt will look to continue his goal scoring form for the Bavarians come next season.
