31 maja, 2019

Secretary of State and Chief of the President’s Cabinet Krzysztof Szczerski concluded a two-day visit to Washington, DC.

Minister Szczerski began his visit with the conference “Three Seas Initiative: Between Political Considerations and Economic Necessities,” organized by the German Marshall Fund and the Polish Institute of International Affairs (PISM). Minister Szczerski emphasized the importance and relevance of the Three Seas Initiative, explaining how “The Three Seas Initiative is a very practical program, focused on connectivity, building up infrastructure, and the long-term aim of security.” After the conference Minister Szczerski took part in a ceremony at our Embassy during which he presented the Officer’s Cross of the Order of Merit of the Republic of Poland to former Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs Wess Mitchell. A strong advocate of trans-Atlantic ties, Wess Mitchell worked to strengthen the alliance between Poland and the United States.

Minister Szczerski also had a series of meetings with representatives of the US Administration, i.a. with US Special Representative for Ukraine Negotiations Kurt Volker and Deputy National Security Advisor Charles Kupperman as well as Acting Assistant Secretary for European and Eurasian Affairs Philip Reeker. The talks focused on the upcoming visit of President Andrzej Duda to Washington, during which he will meet with President Donald Trump at the White House.

The President’s Chief of Cabinet also met with members of the US-Poland Business Council as well as Center for European Policy Analysis President and CEO Peter Doran.
