USA: Polish Constitution Day Events in Chicago

PAC     26 czerwca, 2017

Polish American Congress (PAC) President Frank J. Spula played a leading role in commemorative Polish Constitution Day events in Chicago.

President Spula, Minister Anna Maria Anders and other members of the official Polish delegation, including Deputy Speaker of the Senate Mr. Adam Bielan, reviewed the May 3rd Parade. Illinois Governor Bruce Rauner, delegation from Podkarpacie region in Poland, and leaders of Polonia organizations participated in all commemorative events as well. At the Kosciuszko Monument, President Spula delivered a powerful speech which underlined the shared democratic values of Poland and America. These shared values have bound together our two nations since the Democratic Revolutions at the end of the 18th century. The Democratic Revolution succeeded in America through military victory and continuity has marked United States history from that time to the present. By contrast, Poland's history has been marked by discontinuity. The Democratic Revolution in Poland was brutally repressed by armed force by Poland's tyrannical neighbors who feared that their regimes would be overthrown if the Polish idea of freedom prevailed in Central Europe.

On May 7, with Minister Anna Maria Anders, President Spula unveiled a street sign dedicated to the Minister's father General Władysław Anders, Commander-in-Chief of Polish Armed Forces during the WWII, who organized the Polish victory at Monte Cassino in Italy in 1944.
