Solo Voyage by Kayak from New York to Lisbon

27 maja, 2016

On May 29, at 1:07 polish adventurer Aleksander Doba will depart for his solo voyage by kayak from New York to Lisbon. The expedition will take him approximately three and a half months.

On May 24th, Aleksander Doba spoke at the Polish Embassy about the preparations underway for his III Transatlantic Expedition.
This time Aleksander Doba intends to cross the North Atlantic at its longest. He plans to arrive in Lisbon on September 9, on his 70th birthday. As the kayaker himself noted, the greatest challenge during the trip is the ocean itself. During his latest expedition the adventurer experienced eight storms. However he is not afraid. As he declares, he is not 100% prepared, he is 150% prepared. This time the traveler from Police, Poland has to travel across 9,000 kilometers.

During the meeting Aleksander Doba was excited to answer questions from the audience and signed copies of his book as well as posed for photographs with fans. Chargé d’affaires Maciej Pisarski presented the kayaker with a shirt with our Embassy’s logo and wished him low waves and good winds. Mr. Doba thanked the Embassy for their assistance in the final preparations for this expedition.

Participants in yesterday’s event had the opportunity to admire “Olo” - the famous kayak which Doba will use to travel across the ocean. The kayak was specially constructed by Polish engineers for Doba.

“Do not be afraid to have dreams” said Aleksander Doba, who in 2015 was selected as the National Geographic’s Adventurer of the Year. On Sunday Doba will set off from New York to pursue his dreams.

Representatives of National Geographic, members of Polonia and fans of the Polish Adventurer attended the event to wish the kayaker success in his next voyage.
