Columbia University in New York hosts Polish Ambassador

09 marca, 2015

Ambassador Schnepf confirmed the Polish government’s interest in permanently locating NATO forces on Polish territory, and discussed the influence of the Ukrainian crisis on separatist movements in other European states.

The situation in Ukraine, transatlantic relations, the European Energy Union project and the upcoming visit to Washington, D.C. of the President of the European Council Donald Tusk were the topics covered at a discussion held by Ambassador Schnepf with professors and students of the Harriman Institute at Columbia.

In his remarks at the oldest American institute dealing with Russia and the East (The W. Averell Harriman Institute for Russian, Eurasian and East European Studies) Ambassador Schnepf underlined the importance of EU-US cooperation in stemming Russian aggression in Ukraine. “We need more dialogue and unity in decision making not only within the framework of the EU, but also with our transatlantic allies” noted the Ambassador, indicating also that the conflict in Ukraine has a global reach, affecting not only those countries in the direct vicinity.
