Poland at Bookexpo America at the Javits Center in New York with crime novelist Marek Krajewski

30 kwietnia, 2013

The Polish Cultural Institute New York and the Polish Book Institute will be promoting Polish literature at America\'s largest book fair, BookExpo America, held annually at the Javits Center in New York.

In addition to our booth at the trade fair, Poland\'s premiere detective novelist, Marek Krajewski, will be presenting his series of five Chandleresque novels set in pre-war Wroclaw (AKA Breslau), that have recently begun appearing in the US from Melville House in Danusia Stok\'s translations as Death in Breslau and The End of the World in Breslau. He will be reading with other crime authors for the general public at The Mysterious Bookshop in downtown Manhattan and at Book Court in Brooklyn, and at the convention he will be signing books at the Polish Booth and will participate in a panel organized by the Polish Cultural Institute on the sometimes difficult relationship between translators and editors.

While BEA is open primarily to book industry professionals, the goal of our participation is to bring more books by Polish authors to US bookstores by supporting literary translation from Polish into English, by facilitating the trade in literary rights between Poland and the US, and by helping to market books by Polish authors to US booksellers and consumers.
