Polish Parliamentarians: Senator Bogdan Klich, Member of the Polish Sejm Grzegorz Schetyna and Member of the European Parliament Marek Siwiec in Washington, DC

07 marca, 2013

Polish Parliamentarians paid a working visit to Washington, D.C. on March 2 through March 6.

The purpose of their visit to Washington centered around their participation in events organized around the annual AIPAC conference, as well as to participate in bilateral  meetings with Members of the United States Congress as well as representatives from both the academic and think tank community.

Senator Klich (Poland’s former Defense Minister 2007-2011) met with Members of the House of Representatives: including Representative Jackie Walorski (R-IN), Representative William Enyart (D-IL) and Representative Michael Turner (R-OH). In his discussion with Members he raised the issue of the Visa Waiver Program and the need for reforming it so that Poland can finally join the ranks of other EU Member states who are already members of the program, recognizing that the ongoing immigration debate in the United States may pave the path for fixing this issue.

Senator Klich’s discussions with Representatives as well as members of the academic and think tank community also focused on Polish-American cooperation in the defense sphere, including the U.S. military presence in Europe and specifically in Poland - assuring European allies of NATO security guarantees while strengthening the solidarity of the Alliance.
