The Consulate General of the Republic of Poland in NY will host the Second Annual Polish University Education Fair in New York City

26 lutego, 2013

On Sunday, March 10th, from 11 am to 6 pm, the Consulate General of the Republic of Poland in New York will host the second edition of the Polish University Education Fair. During the event, representatives from Polish universities will provide prospective students with thorough information about studying in Poland. The organizers of the education fair are the Polish Supplementary School Council of America, The Consulate General of the Republic of Poland in New York, and the MANKO association.

Why the Polish University Education Fair?
According to the Polish MFA, there are over 3.6 million people in the Greater New York City who associate themselves with Poland. The soaring costs of higher education in the United States are encouraging students to seek alternatives. Polish universities offer high quality education, while remaining very affordable.

The idea for the Polish University Education Fair originated in Chicago and is credited to Zbigniew Piwoni. The first New York fair took place last march, thanks to the initiative of the former Deputy Consul General Przemyslaw Balcerzyk, and Dr. Dorota Andraka, president of the Polish Supplementary School Council of America.

“It was through conversations with students about college, the financial capabilities of their families, and their bilingual competence, that I realized the need for a source information and help regarding the formalities of studying abroad. That’s where the idea to host an education fair in New York came from.” - Dr. Andraka

For whom?
The Polish University Education Fair is directed primarily at college-bound high school students of Polish heritage.

What will happen?
This year’s Polish University Education Fair will be attended by: Medical University of Warsaw, Cracow University of Technology, Cracow College of Health, College of Insurance, The State Higher School of Computer Science and Business Administration in Lomza, Gdansk Academy of Fine Arts, European School of Law and Administration, and the University of Life Sciences in Poznan.

During the fair, prospective students will be able to learn about Polish universities and the programs they offer, including those taught in English. Attendees will also get the chance to ask about formalities such as the Polish university application process, and the forms of funding available. New this year, will be a contest amongst the attending universities for the best fair exhibition.

Last year’s education fair proved very popular, gathering as many as 500 participants. This year the organizers are expecting to host over 1,000 guests.
