PROTECT YOUR ATM Card AGAINST Skimming

27 stycznia, 2013

In recent weeks, there has been a marked increase in ATM skimming attacks and related cash out fraud in the North East of the United States. Fraudsters install card skimming and PIN capturing devices directly onto ATMs in an effort to steal your personal information. They mainly do that at nighttime or during early morning hours, particularly in low traffic areas.

To minimize the risk of falling victim to ATM skimming, please consider the following security measures:

  • try to use ATMs only in trusted places;
  • prior to an ATM transaction, check the appearance of the machine you are about to use. In particular, check the front of the ATM for superficial additions on top of the card entry slot and numerical pad - scratches, marks, adhesive or tape residues could be indicators of tampering;
  • keep records of your transactions and verify them systematically with your online or mobile banking account. If you have not yet registered for a PSFCU Online Banking, you may do so at www.psfcu.com;
  • if you notice any suspicious transactions, contact us immediately at 1.800.PSFCU.4U (1.855.773.2848)
