Reese Witherspoon engaged to Hollywood agent

Witherspoon, 34, who won the Academy Award in 2006 for her portrayal of June Carter Cash in the Johnny Cash biopic "Walk the Line," began quietly dating 40-year-old Toth last January, according to People.

She is now starring in the romantic comedy "How Do You Know" alongside Owen Wilson, Paul Rudd and Jack Nicholson.

Witherspoon\'s representatives did not immediately respond to requests for confirmation.

The actress was previously married to actor Ryan Phillippe, with whom she had two children, now 11 and seven years old, before separating in 2006.

The news follows a string of celebrity announcements, including reports that "Black Swan" star Natalie Portman is engaged to and pregnant with French dancer and choreographer Benjamin Millepied.

The 84-year-old Playboy tycoon Hugh Hefner has also recently proposed -- to girlfriend Crystal Harris, a former Playmate of the Month 60 years his junior.

Other celebrities have welcomed new additions to their families over the holidays, including Canadian-born singer songwriter Alanis Morissette, who gave birth to her first child, a baby boy, on Christmas Day.

British pop superstar Elton John and his partner David Furnish also became the proud parents of a baby boy, born on Christmas Day to a surrogate mother in California.

But not all was merry in Tinseltown over the holidays.

Hollywood A-listers Scarlett Johansson and Ryan Reynolds filed for divorce the day before Christmas Eve, citing irreconcilable differences.
