Residents of London will have a chance to spend a weekend in Poland without leaving their home cities. Thanks to cameras installed in urban space, everyone will be able to have a live chat with Poles and see for themselves what they are really like.
What do Poles do at the weekend, how do they spend their free time, does everybody here wear furs, do they have a sense of humour, and what are they proud of? To get the answers to those and other questions, it\'s best to just talk to Polish people. A good occasion to do that will be a "Virtual Weekend in Poland," an event which is taking in London (5-6 July).
"Virtual Weekend" will involve setting up a video link between London and Krakow. Screens and cameras, installed in popular spots, will feed live image and sound. The residents of the linked cities will be able to chat, give greetings or just smile to one another.
"Virtual Weekend" is a chance to revise opinions and beliefs about Poland and Poles. Picture and sound will be broadcast in both directions—also Poles will be able to get to know what Brits are like. "Virtual Weekend" will create a space for us to be together while remaining at our place.
The event is being organised as part of the campaign "Polska. Spring into new", which promotes Poland abroad on the occasion of three important anniversaries falling this year: 25 years of freedom, 15 years of NATO membership and 10 years in the European Union. All events will be streamed live on the "Polska.Spring into" Facebook fan page.
