Invitation \"Rendez - Vous with the Arts\"

01 października, 2010

Is the new exciting format allowing public to experience the Arts in multiply forms.

It is a wonderful event to benefit Nowodworski Foundation SITE Art Program. The star of the evening, Rita Cosby, the New York Times best selling author and Emmy Award - winning journalist, is a recipient of: “The Jan III Sobieski Award” for the Champion of Polish –American Cultural Exchange.

Through her book “Quiet Hero - secrets from my father\'s past”, Rita brings awareness about WW2 Warsaw Uprising to the American public. After 60 years of silence, she tells the exciting story of her father Richard “Rys” Kossobudzki, pain, courage and sacrifice in the fight for Liberty, which are common bonding grounds for Americans and Poles. Senator McCain said: “Rita’s story is one that will touch every family…a loving and poignant tribute to her POW father and Freedom”.

Two visual artists, representing “generation Y”, Elizabeth Tubergen and Natalia Lesniak, will introduce to their artistic visions of Iceland. They explored this still exotic, and full of surprises island, during a monthly bicycle tour in 2009.

Two spectacular musicians Tomaczek Bednarek and Krystof Medyna will join them:

Tomaczek, an award-winning producer, lyricist and music composer. His films and videos have won the New York World Fest Award of Best Videographer, Producer of the Year. His videos, such as “Spirit of Life” and “Wave to the World” brought international attention to the extraordinary challenges of Paralympic athletes worldwide.

Krystof, a powerfull, hair-rising reed and sax player. Medyna is admired by music fans and jazz people especially as he knows how to satisfy their endless quest for something new. His presentation of a young composer, Krzysztof Komeda’s composition in cinematic premise of “Crazy Girl”, is truly liberating.

Young artists Damian and Konrad Kulec, piano & violin, will perform Damian’s composition “Beautiful Dreams”, dedicated to Rita and her father Richard.

Rita Cosby will be joined by distinguished guests: New York State Senator Andrea Stewart-Cousins and Polish Council General Ewa Junczyk-Ziomecka, representatives of the Westchester and Putnam Arts Councils and local business supporters.

For the past 10 years, the young but dynamic, Nowodworski Foundation champions innovation in art and music education and promotes cross-cultural understanding. Jerzy Lesniak, Foundation President, explains that SITE Arts Program (Social Improvement Through Expression) focuses on the development of children’s minds through the Arts. The Foundation puts a great deal of effort and resources to help underrepresented children of immigrants, minorities, low-income families, and children with special needs. A very special International Summer Art Camp is a place where young talents are born.
Rita and Jerzy together with Board members invite you to enjoy the magnificent afternoon in artistic spirit, and taste
an excellent, gourmet polish cuisine.
