Poland advances to Knockout Stages for the First Time in Euros

Michael Skok, NY     22 czerwca, 2016

Poland won their third and final group game of the stages after beating Ukraine 1-0. With this result, Poland has confirmed their spot in the Round of sixteen with Germany from Group C. Substitute Jakub Blaszczykowski scored the solitary goal against their fellow neighbors while keeping a stern and solid defense against the talented Ukrainian offense.

This result was Poland's third clean sheet in a row, joining the likes of Germany and Italy in maintaining a solid defense throughout the group stages.

Poland will now look to test their mettle against the Swiss, who finished second to France in group A. Coach Adam Nawalka will hope star striker and captain Robert Lewandowski will find his form soon, as he has failed to score throughout the first stage of the competition. Poland will next play Switzerland on Saturday.
