Talks About US-Poland Bilateral Ties and Poland’s National Security

Ambassador Wilczek took part in a series of meetings with representatives of the new Administration and US Congress

On January 4th and 5th, Ambassador Piotr Wilczek took part in a series of meetings with Democratic and Republican Senators and Congressmen to discuss the most important issues pertaining to the US-Poland relations as well as the cooperation with the new Congress.
 

Ambassador Wilczek met with the following Congressmen and Senators: Congressman Darrell Issa (R-CA), Congressman Tom Emmer (R-MN), Senator James Inhofe (R-OK), Congressman Joe Wilson (R-SC), Congressman Mark Sanford Jr. (R-SC), Senator Robert Casey (D-PA), Congressman Charlie Dent (R-PA), Senator Jon Tester (D-MT), Congressman Will Hurd (R-TX), Congressman Mike Rogers (R-AL), Congressman Dana Rohrabacher (R-CA), Senator John McCain (R-AZ), Congressman Mike Quigley (D-IL). The Ambassador also spoke with Rex Tillerson, candidate for Secretary of State.  

During the course of talks with Congressmen and Senators, some of the most important issues pertaining to the US-Poland relationship were addressed within the context of the legislative activity of the new Congress and hearings for the candidates of the new Administration. This includes first and foremost matters of national security, implementing the decision reached at the Warsaw NATO Summit, the relationship between the USA and Russia and the situation in the Middle East. A constant point in the talks was the inclusion of Poland into the Visa Waiver Program.  

Everyone expressed a readiness to continue talks on these and other topics related to US-Poland bilateral ties and Poland’s national security.
