New Visa Points for World Youth Day 2016 Participants

06 maja, 2016

From 4 May, pilgrims can apply for visas at dedicated consular points in Manila, the Philippines, and in Ecuador’s capital, Quito. Another temporary post will open in a week in Santo Domingo, the Dominican Republic.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs decided to open three visa-issuing points in countries with no Polish consular posts and with anticipated high numbers of WYD 2016 participants. They are located in Quito (Ecuador), Manila (the Philippines) and Santo Domingo (the Dominican Republic). The temporary visa points will be open from 4 May until 18 July (Manila and Quito) and 11 May until 19 July (Santo Domingo). In other countries where Poland does not have consular representation, visas will be issued by consular posts of the Schengen states with which Poland has signed permanent representation agreements, i.e. the Czech Republic, the Netherlands, Switzerland and Sweden, as well as the countries which Poland has asked for consular assistance in WYD preparations: France, Germany, Belgium, Norway, Portugal and Italy.

Temporary visa points and cooperation with Schengen states will make it possible to issue WYD visas in 40 countries without Polish consular points. Together with the network of existing Polish posts, they will enable reaching nearly all countries the pilgrims come from.

The MFA has also launched a website on WYD 2016 in Krakow with detailed information on visa procedures for pilgrims.
